Who are we?
Welcome to Shaka Surf Branksome. The premier surf school on the South Coast! Based in the heart of Bournemouth and Poole at the beautiful Branksome Dene Chine Beach. Celebrating 10 years of being at the beach in 2025.
Based on one of the UK’s most beautiful sandy beaches at Branksome Dene in Poole Bay, Shaka Surf (the only Surfing England Accredited surf school on the south coast) is perfectly located for all ages and abilities to have fun in the water - paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking, corporate events, parties, games and much, much more! With parking close to the beach, and amenities at a very short stroll, we’re blessed with an idyllic base on the UK's popular south coast.
Branksome Dene is also a dog-friendly beach all year round. Plus there are great restaurants only a 5-minute walk along the promenade.

UK Dog Surfing Championships – Back at Branksome Beach!
The UK Dog Surfing Championships is returning to Branksome Dene Chine Beach this Summer! Created by Mark Reeves, owner of Shaka Surf Branksome, this wacky surf competition and beach festival is now in its 6th year.
Over 30+ dogs and their humans compete for the prestigious title of ‘UK Dog Surfing Champion of the Year’. Yes – real dogs on surfboards! 🐾🏄♂️
This event is a local, tourist, and media sensation, bringing National TV, radio, and press coverage to beautiful Dorset. In 2025, the championships captured global attention, reaching over 52 million viewers across CNN, Fox News, and major outlets from Australia, India, Pakistan, and all over the Americas.
The event has celebrated three Guinness World Records, including:
Most dogs surfing on one board: 12 dogs for 5 seconds
Most dogs competing in a dog‑human Paddleboard race over 50 m
Fastest dog sprint over 50 m – record achieved in 2025
This is summer’s wackiest, family‑friendly, and pooch‑friendly festival – not to be missed!
